SCOTLAND, 2010-- How you can pray

As many of you know, my family is now in the midst of preparations to travel to Scotland through the end of August/beginning of September. The Father has potentially opened the door for us to move to Glenrothes, UK long term that I may possibly Pastor Glenrothes Baptist Church (GBC). While there are many unknowns, we are praying and seeking the Lord's wisdom and direction on this matter. Part of this process is meeting with the Pastor search committee and the elders of GBC, leading midweek prayer gatherings, and preaching and leading multiple worship services, etc. As we have opportunity, we will try to post pictures & updates via Facebook or this blog.

Many of you have asked how you can specifically pray, so here are a few to start:

1. Please pray for Health & Travel Safety. Emma (our youngest daughter)has a cold. Pray that she would be healed quickly, and that we wouldn't get it. Also, we have a 12 hour flight with our children. Enough said.

2. Pray for me (Jacob) as I prepare sermons, etc. Please pray that the Spirit would empower me to boldly proclaim the truth of God's Word without apology, but at the same time in a way that reaches their culture (which is very different from the context of rural KY, which I have been preaching in for the past 2 years).

3. Pray that the Lord would give us wisdom- show us clearly where He is calling us.

Brittany's thought, to which I completely agree:
"We are not going there to find out if the church is the way we like it, or to find out if they are a good church or a bad church--- we are simply trying to find out if the way God has gifted us is a good fit for this church and the work that God is doing there."
